For more than 30 years I’ve been navigating life with lactose intolerance. I’ve learned countless tips, tricks, product swaps, and survival strategies that have made living lactose-free a whole lot easier. Now I’m passing those lessons on to my daughter Logan, who unfortunately inherited the same stomach.
The good news? The food world has come a long way. Gone are the days when your only option was cardboard-tasting soy cheese and questionable dairy alternatives. Today, there are incredible products made from oats, almonds, cashews, avocados, and more and some are surprisingly delicious. Others… not so much. That’s why we decided to create Lactose-Free Me, to hopefully help others navigate through lactose-free living a little easier.
mEET lOGAN, the lacto NEWBIE
Hi! I’m Logan, but most people call me Lo or LoLo.
I’m 12 years old, love soccer, hanging with my besties, and getting my nails done (when mom lets me). Unfortunately, I also inherited my mom’s lactose-intolerant stomach. Lucky me.
While I don’t remember much life before being lactose intolerant (started when I was 9 years old) the way my mom does, I’ve already learned that school lunches, birthday parties, sleepovers, team snacks, and family vacations can all get a little tricky when dairy doesn’t agree with you.

The good news is that my mom has spent years figuring out what works, what doesn’t, and which foods are actually worth trying. Together we’re testing products, sharing recipes, and helping other kids and families discover that lactose-free living can still be fun, delicious, and full of treats.
When I’m not taste-testing new snacks, you’ll probably find me on a soccer field, hanging out with friends, creating something fun, or helping decide whether a new lactose-free product gets a thumbs up or a hard pass.
MEET CAMERON, your friendly lactose sherpa

I’m Cameron, mom, to two awesome and very active kids, ages 12 and 8. I’ve been lactose intolerant for more than 30 years, but I wasn’t always…
Back in junior high, I went from happily eating ice cream and Oreos after school every day to suddenly having terrible stomach pains and spending way too much time worrying about what I had eaten.
Every morning before school was miserable. I had no idea what was happening to me, and like many introverted middle schoolers, I told absolutely no one. Instead, I secretly started chugging Pepto-Bismol every morning and hoping for the best. As the weeks went on, I became scared to eat almost anything. Eventually, my mom noticed the growing collection of empty Pepto bottles and the fact that I was losing way too much weight for a growing tween. That’s when I finally confessed what had been going on.
One doctor’s appointment, a very awkward conversation, and a less-than-glamorous stool sample later, I heard the words that changed my relationship with food forever: “You’re lactose intolerant.”
Fast forward a few decades, and I’ve learned that lactose-free living doesn’t have to be scary, restrictive, or boring. In fact, there have never been more amazing options available. What started with cardboard-tasting soy products has evolved into delicious alternatives made from oats, almonds, cashews, coconuts, and more. (See proof in pic of me and Disney chocolate frozen banana – yes, lactose free!)
Now I’m sharing everything I’ve learned along the way to help other families navigate lactose-free living with a little less stress and a lot more confidence.
Helping Families Navigate Life Without the Lactose
At Lactose Free Me, we’re here to help families discover what’s worth buying, what’s worth skipping, and how to navigate lactose-free living without feeling overwhelmed. While many of the products and recipes we share are dairy-free, our focus is on lactose-free living. That means some products may still contain dairy and are not suitable for those with a dairy allergy. We are NOT health nuts. We try our best to make healthy choices and balance our meals, but we also enjoy all the normal savory and sweet treats many others enjoy. Unfortunately, a lot of lactose-free products have become loaded with artificial ingredients – so we try to stay mindful. And although, you may find some yummy vegan options here we hope you enjoy, we are not vegans. In fact, we have 19 chickens, so we eat plenty of eggs and other animal proteins.
One more important note: We’re not doctors, dietitians, or medical professionals, and everyone should consult their healthcare provider regarding dietary needs. Think of us more as your friendly Lactose Sherpas—guiding you through the ever-changing world of lactose-free food, one snack, meal, and grocery trip at a time.
Thank you for visiting our site! We hope you find some useful info for yourself our loved one. Please feel free to drop us a line if you have found an amazing product or tip you think we should try or share!
Sincerely,
Cameron & Logan
